Google Street View Explores the Beauty of Greece

Located northwest of the Greek mainland, the island of Corfu features lovely architecture and a rich history. Here is a view of Old Town in the town of Corfu, on the east side of the island.

Here is a spectacular image of the old fortress in Corfu at night, with the moon floating above. The fortress dates back to the early 15th century, according to records.

This white tower in Thessaloniki, Greece, in the Macedonia region of the country, dates back to the 15th century and was built as part of the city’s fortifications, according to the Greek tourism Website Greeka.com.

Here is the port in the lovely Greek island of Mykonos, which is southeast of the Greek mainland.

Inside the Acropolis Museum in the city of Athens are more than 4,000 objects with historical significance to Greece on display. You can tour the halls starting here on Street View.

In the center of Athens sits the regal remnants of the Arch of Hadrian, which was built around 131 B.C. to celebrate the arrival of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, according to Greeka.com.

Here, the Street View cameras captured the spectacular beauty and intense colors inside the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian on the Greek island of Patmos.

The Pláka neighborhood in Athens is one of the oldest in the city and sits near the base of the hill leading to the Acropolis.

The city of Chania on the western side of the island of Crete features this tranquil port and lovely architecture.

Here on the island of Rhodes in the eastern Aegean Sea, the Old Town section is among the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe, with an impressive castle, paved paths and elegant stone mansions, according to Greeka.com.

Here is a beautiful plaza in the seaport town of Nafplio, which is about a two-hour drive from Athens, according to Greeka.com.

This stone castle sits in the city of Ioannina in northwestern Greece, where it was rebuilt in 1815 near the waterfront on the site of another former castle, according to Greeka.com.
