Database and applications management provider Quest Software took another step into the Microsoft Windows sector with the June 21 acquisition of ScriptLogic.
Quest agreed to acquire ScriptLogic, which develops Microsoft-based network administration and life-cycle management software, for approximately $90 million. The company already snatched up Aelita Software and Vintela, two widely known Windows management providers, in 2004 and 2005 respectively.
What ScriptLogic brings to the table is a strong presence in the small and midsize business sector, and the ability to support both Windows server-based and client-side customers, officials said. ScriptLogic, on the other hand, will benefit from Quests more global presence and acquired insight into the Windows market.
“By adding ScriptLogics established strength in PC life-cycle management to complement our current offerings, we are increasing our ability to meet the Windows management needs of SMB customers while at the same time extending Quests direct sales model further with ScriptLogics high-volume, indirect reseller channel approach to the market,” said Quest CEO Vinny Smith, in a statement.
ScriptLogic also brings about 19,000 customers to Quests roster. ScriptLogic will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary. The companys CEO, Jason Judge, along with other executives, will remain on board.
The acquisition, subject to standard regulatory scrutiny, is expected to close early in the third quarter.
