Oracle Corp. and the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) have separately announced plans to roll out new IT certification designations.
Oracle said that in October it will launch an application server certification program, to be called the Oracle 9iAS Web Administrator Certified Associate.
Meanwhile, ComTIA said it plans next year to launch a vendor-neutral certification, to be called Wireless+, for wireless technology subject experts.
Oracle said that in order to obtain the 9iAS Web Administrator Certified Associate certification, candidates will need to pass the Oracle9iAS:Basic Administration Exam. A beta version of the exam will be available Oct. 1 for $50 at Oracles Web site. (Click here for registration and other details. An exam preparation course is also available.
ComTIA said it is now hosting a committee of industry leaders which will develop the Wireless+ exam, skills development standards and target candidate profile.
