“ComponentOne’s Studio for SharePoint empowers end users to easily and quickly access and analyze data,” Arpan Shah, director of SharePoint at Microsoft, said in a statement.
The new 2010 Version 1 release enables users to “point, click and connect to SharePoint Server lists, Microsoft SQL Server databases, Oracle databases and Microsoft Office Excel files as a data source to display data sets, chart data and map locations,” ComponentOne said. Also, without writing any code, “users can connect, configure and style data views using the On-Board Designers available with each Web Part.”
In addition, the DataGrid “allows users to edit and add data to the database,” the company said.
ComponentOne Product Manager Dan Beall said, “Offering a Studio is a natural evolution of our SharePoint product line. All of our Web Parts have a consistent design experience, look and feel. They also connect and interact with each other. With our new offering, clients may now access all of our Web Parts for one low price. An included subscription also delivers support and any updates we release to this Studio for a year. That means clients will receive enhancements and any new Web Parts we release free of charge while their subscription is active.”
Beall added, “We also have optimized the user experience. Load times are faster and we have expanded formatting choices. People can now display the data the way they want by specifying any data format, setting column widths and showing live links.”
