CumuLogic announced the general availability of its CumuLogic Cloud Application Platform v1.0, a platform that enables cloud service providers to build a Java platform as a service in their data centers.
With the cloud space continuing to consolidate and things heating up in the PaaS market, CumuLogic says its platform transforms virtualized environments and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) clouds, such as Citrix CloudStack, OpenStack and VMware vSphere, to PaaS, simplifying the development, deployment and runtime management of mobile, Web and enterprise applications in private and hybrid clouds.
We are very pleased with the ease of integration that weve seen with the CumuLogic product, said Matthew Porter, CEO and co-founder of Contegix, in a statement. Working with CumuLogic provides for a natural extension of our MiraCloud platform and delivers on our commitment to deliver robust technology in a very flexible way.
As one of the first CloudStack partners to be certified Citrix-Ready, CumuLogic remains an important ecosystem partner for us, said Peder Ulander, vice president of product marketing in the Cloud Platform Group at Citrix Systems, in a statement. We believe that platform as a service is a key element to driving greater cloud ROI for our customers, and were very pleased to see that market maturing even further with this product release from CumuLogic.
CumuLogic Cloud Application Platform v1.0 improves developer productivity, lowers the cost of managing applications on clouds, enables DevOps collaboration, and streamlines the migration of applications to cloudspublic or private. CumuLogics software enables enterprises, cloud providers and ISVs to develop and deploy Java applications in public, private and hybrid cloud environments.
We are extremely excited about the release of CumuLogic Cloud Application Platform 1.0, the most robust, vendor-independent platform on the market today, said Mike Soby, president of CumuLogic, in a statement. Were looking forward to continuing the advancement of the platform and delivering real business results for our customers and partners.
CumuLogic PaaS focuses on three key functional areas: application development, application migration and application management. Developers can create a new cloud-based application using their preferred IDE; no proprietary software development kit (SDK) is required. With CumuLogic PaaS, existing Java applications can be migrated from physical or virtual environments with minimal-to-zero code rewrite. And with respect to management, the solutions application management function includes all the enterprise-ready features out-of-the-box, such as high availability and self-healing, monitoring and real-time application-level usage metering.
We are excited to be working with CumuLogic, said Giles Sirett, managing consultant and founder of ShapeBlue, a cloud-focused consultancy that focuses on the CloudStack open-source cloud computing solution, in a statement. After evaluating several PaaS offerings, we found that the CumuLogic platform provided the most valuable extension for our CloudStack clients, and were looking forward to building deep practice competency around the integrated solution.
In April, Citrix announced that its companys popular CloudStack solution would become the first cloud platform in the industry to be submitted to the Apache Software Foundation. Citrix said the move brought Apache more than 30,000 community members, thousands of certified apps, and hundreds of production clouds, collectively generating more than $1 billion in cloud revenue from some of the biggest brands in the industry.
To capitalize on the anticipated market momentum, in May Citrix announced Citrix CloudPlatform, the first commercially supported cloud orchestration system based on Apache CloudStack. Citrix said the release would enable customers to evolve virtualized data center resources to automated, elastic and self-service IT delivery models.
