Nexaweb Technologies Inc. will announce the latest version of its namesake rich Internet application software development platform at JavaOne Monday.
Nexaweb 4.0 leverages Java and XML and features new messaging functionality, as well as support for open standards.
Other features of Nexaweb 4.0 include a new Internet messaging bus that supports a variety of communications scenarios, a plug-in framework that supports the embedding of Java components and user interface widgets as well as non-UI components. Version 4.0 also features a distributed XML engine that supports incremental updates and automatic synchronization.
In addition, Nexaweb will announce that SunGard Data Systems Inc., a provider mutual fund shareholder accounting systems, will be using Nexaweb to migrate its Investar ONE client/server mutual fund solution to the Web, as SunGard heads toward a SOA (service-oriented architecture).
Nexaweb 4.0 builds on the existing Nexaweb functionality such as visual development, server clustering, enhanced graphing and internationalism, and adds new features such as mobile computing functionality, the open plug-in architecture and the XML data engine, the company said.
Meanwhile, the Nexaweb-based solution for SunGard will give SunGard users 24-by-7 Web access, eliminating the installed client and installing a Web-based client with the same functionality, the company said.
In a statement, Mark Judah, chief technology officer at SunGard, said: “Given SunGards expertise in managing applications, we are able to provide a very cost effective and resilient hosting model for our Investar ONE clients. As part of our plan to expand the use of the Investar ONE product, we are incorporating the industrys latest software features and functionality, while also laying the necessary foundation for future development projects and changing market conditions. Nexawebs strong technology is very well suited to our technology strategy.”
“What weve learned by servicing some of the largest companies in the world is that they require Web applications to function exactly like client/server applications without any compromise,” said Coach Wei, CTO of Nexaweb, in a statement. “Working with SunGard is yet another successful example of what Nexaweb can do for our enterprise customers.”
