PolitiFact by St. Petersburg Times

PolitiFact helps users find the truth in politics. Created by the St. Petersburg Times, the newspapers reporters and researchers examine statements by members of Congress, the president, cabinet secretaries, lobbyists, people who testify before Congress and anyone else who speaks up in Washington, and then rate the accuracy on the Truth-O-Meter-from True and Mostly True on down to False and the lowest rating, Pants on Fire. The application was developed for Android, the BlackBerry Playbook and the iPhone and iPad leveraging content from the existing Politifact.com Website. Using Flash Builder 4.5, it took three weeks to build and deploy the app, and is easier to maintain on multiple Android, BlackBerry and iOS devices because it shares a common code base.

Muni Tracker lets users track San Francisco Muni locations and arrival time predictions on a map updated every 10 seconds. It also bookmarks favorite stops and lines for easy access. The data is provided by SFMTA NextMuni. Development of the application for Android, iPhone and iPad took about a week because mobile development and packaging features made it possible to quickly add support for multiple devices.

The Netflix Queue Manager makes it easier for users to manage their Netflix queue—search for new titles by name, browse titles by genres, check out new recommendations, and view titles based on a favorite actor or actress. United Mindset leveraged the same core Flex framework on all screens and shared code between mobile and desktop applications. Conditional debugging and breakpoints in Flash Builder 4.5 streamlined the workflow.

HD Interactives Mr. Mixit is a DJ-style turntable game where users can mix record labels against the clock. HD Interactive built Mr. Mixit using Flash Builder 4.5. The app was released to iTunes first and then was converted to Android and BlackBerry. Building the app with Flash Builder opened up more marketplaces for very little extra effort for the second, third and consecutive platforms.

Pyramix is a word game that combines the strategy of Cryptoquote with the simplicity of Boggle. HD Interactive built Pyramix using Flash Builder 4.5. The app was released to iTunes first and then was converted to Android and BlackBerry.

Conqu is a task management tool designed to help users manage their inboxes. Conqu allows users to assign a project, energy and time required to finish a task and additional filtering criteria such as tags or contexts to any task. Conqu was developed in the Flex framework using Adobe Flash Builder 4.5. Adobe Photoshop CS 5.5 was used for graphic design and other visual assets with Adobe ColdFusion 9 on the back-end. AsFusion was able to repurpose all of Conqus initial code and logic to deploy to all mobile platforms since there was no need to debug different code for each individual platform.

Developers now have a single platform for building mobile applications that can be distributed via the Android Marketplace, Apple App Store and BlackBerry App World.
