Telerik, a provider of development tools and controls, has announced the availability of its Windows 8 UI Controls Release Candidate (RC), which enables developers to more easily build apps for the Windows Store.

As part of the RC, Telerik is also releasing two new controls, Pagination and HubTile, for both HTML and XAML environments. The Telerik Windows 8 UI Controls is a toolset for building native Windows 8 touch-centric apps for the enterprise and consumer market with either XAML or HTML. The suite offers support and capabilities on top of WinRT, engineered specifically for enterprise development, Telerik said.

Already in use by a number of certified apps on the Windows Store, Telerik previously offered 10 controls: Chart, DatePicker, AutoCompleteBox, NumericBox, Gauge, TimePicker, Slider, DropDownList, BulletGraph and ComboBox. With today’s RC, the company is expanding its already rich toolset with two additional controls.

The new Pagination Control enables fast and intuitive navigation between pages, regardless of style or content. And the new HubTile Control lets users experience the dynamics of navigation or browsing through Windows 8 style tiles. No matter the application type, the Telerik Windows 8 HubTiles enable the organization of apps in a unique and native Windows 8 style.

“Windows 8 opens up new opportunities for the developer community, whether an early adopter building consumer apps or an enterprise looking to improve the customer experience,” said Chris Sells, executive vice president of developer tools at Telerik, said in a statement. “This is why it was important to us to be the first to market with the richest toolset available for both XAML and HTML. Moreover, we are the only vendor that, based on our years of experience, can offer an overabundance of support and know-how in XAML, HTML and Windows Phone technologies, enabling our customers to get to market faster.”

“I knew I could count on Telerik for the quality charts, gauges and controls that I’d come to rely on for the Windows Phone apps,” said Jonathan Isabelle founder of digitalmason.net, the creator of Jack of Tools. “On Windows 8, I was worried I’d have to produce quite a few quality tools in the initial release in order to be on track to eventually be on par with the Windows Phone version. With the Telerik tools for Windows 8, I was up and running in no time.”
