Business-to-business software developer Agile Software Corp. announced today a new member of its board of directors – Paul Wahl, president and COO of Siebel Systems Inc.
Prior to his appointment at Siebel, Wahl served as the CEO of an Internet security company, TriStrata. He also served as the CEO of SAP America Inc., and is a former member of the SAP AG executive board.
At SAP America – which has seen its second CEO appointment in as many years – Wahl oversaw the operations in the Americas, as well as worldwide marketing and partner relationships.
A former pure-play collaboration software provider, Agile is working to position itself in the emerging Product Chain Management space, defined as helping companies build better products faster. That strategy also puts Agile squarely in the hotly contested, though lucrative, PCM (product lifecycle management) space. Agile laid out its PCM strategy – which looks to link manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, suppliers and service organizations under one umbrella – last October with a host of software that nearly doubled the number of its offerings.
The San Jose, Calif., company has built a fairly strong customer base, with over 800 customers the likes of Compaq, Dell Computer, Flextronics International, FujiFilm, International, Lucent Technologies and Texas Instruments.
Wahls background and industry expertise will be key as the board moves forward in its planning, according to officials.
Bryan Stolle, CEO at Agile, said the company sought a board member that could expand and deepen its expertise.
In addition to Wahl, Agiles board includes co-founder Stolle, founder and former CEO of Quantum James Patterson, Klaus-Dieter Laidig, and Mohr Davidow Ventures director Nancy Schoendorf.
