DevX Inc., which serves as an information and services warehouse for corporate IT developers, recently opened two new Web sites aimed at helping programmers as they migrate to working with Web services and Microsoft Corp.s .Net platform.

On Monday, the Palo Alto, Calif., company opened the .Net Zone, at www.devx.com/dotnet. The site features step-by-step tutorials, articles, tips, tools and code that deal with .Net.

The goal of the site is to give developers everything they need to make the transition to the .Net framework. Features include original technical articles and commentary by the DevX editorial team, an active .Net community that includes postings from developers and .Net-supported third-party tools for purchase and download.

The announcement followed the unveiling last week of a new DevX portal aimed at informing developers about the tools developed by Rational Software Corp.

The portal, at www.devx.com/rational, also includes tutorials, articles, discussion groups and tools for developers who want to use Rational products in their .Net work.

Rational also is a sponsor of the .Net Zone.

DevX also has portals that focus on Intel Corp. products and Microsofts upcoming Windows XP operating system.

Michael McCarthy, editorial director of DevXs portal projects, said .Net will enable developers to create ambitious, complex projects, and that they will need as much information as possible on how to work within the platform.
