Ariba Inc. is acquiring another technology company, software developer Softface Inc., bringing its spending on acquisitions this quarter to half a billion dollars.
Ariba on Wednesday afternoon announced the acquisition of Softface, a privately held developer of spending performance management software.
Earlier in the quarter, Ariba of Sunnyvale, Calif., acquired FreeMarkets Inc. and Alliente Inc. FreeMarkets, which itself had recently acquired the sourcing and services arm of Covisint, brought global supply management software and services to the table. Alliente added procurement business process outsourcing capabilities.
Ariba develops enterprise spend management software and operates a business-to-business procurement hub. The acquisition of Softface, expected to close in April, will extend Aribas Solutions Delivery services as well as its namesake Analysis software in the areas of data cleansing, enrichment and classification, officials said.
Softface of Walnut Creek, Calif., comes as no stranger to Ariba. The two have had a partnership since July 2003 and have half a dozen joint customers.
