BEA Systems Inc. and Siebel Systems Inc. announced an expansion Monday of the companies existing relationship that will call for BEA to support Siebels fledgling Universal Application Network application integration platform.
The expanded relationship calls for BEA to become a Strategic Software Partner in Siebels Alliance program and to join with Siebel to create UAN and Web services-based integration solutions, according to company officials.
BEA will work especially with customers in the telecommunications, financial services and insurance verticals, optimizing its WebLogic enterprise application integration software to run Siebels best-practice business processes for Universal Application Network-based solutions, officials said.
In addition, BEA WebLogic Integration tools will support integration with Siebel Systems eBusiness Web Services, Microsoft .Net Web Services, and Java Web Services, officials said.
“Siebel Systems is a leading provider of e-business applications software, and together we share a common vision toward delivering standards-based Web Services,” said Olivier Helleboid, president, Products Organization at San Jose, Calif.-based BEA, in a statement.
David Schmaier, Siebels executive vice president, said in a statement that the extended relationship would further the adoption of UAN.
“Together, we are delivering a standards-based, best-practice business process integration solution to reduce cost and complexity and help enable our customers to choose applications that best meet their business needs,” Schmaier said, in San Mateo, Calif.
Separately, on Monday, Siebel announced Siebel Scheduler 7.5, a field service scheduling tool.
The new product, part of the Siebel Field Service 7.5 product line, automates field service scheduling processes to minimize the amount of manual effort required in making dispatching decisions, Siebel officials said. It factors in such criteria as technical skills, parts inventory and service location to dispatch and schedule mobile service technicians.
Siebel Scheduler 7.5 also provides business rules definition screens, allowing business users to define and tune schedules based on their revenue and service objectives.
