Once known for its procurement software and e-marketplace capabilities, Commerce One Inc. is now focusing on business process integration. On Oct. 13, the Pleasanton, Calif., company will announce the next iteration of its Conductor platform that helps companies automate and integrate business processes.
With Version 6.5 of the platform, Commerce One is focusing on four main areas that look to catch the eye of the business process owner—the folks that at the end of the day write the check for process integration solutions, officials said.
New functional areas include scalability, design time integration, interoperability and process acceleration.
For scalability purposes, Conductor 6.5 is geared so that companies can start small and keep adding business processes while eliminating points of failure through flexible clustering support, officials said.
This latest iteration also has an underlying framework that enables business analysts to start out defining a framework and then hand that off to a technical team for definition of business documents.
With corporate citizenship in mind, 6.5 provides integration with 200 software providers, from enterprise resource planning to portal vendors.
Finally, Commerce One is launching its Demand Execution Process Accelerator with 6.5 that provides a template for automating the aggregate demand for procurement from different areas in an organization. Invoice management and contract management accelerators will be available next quarter, officials said.
In development for two years, Conductor is Commerce Ones infrastructure for deploying, integrating and managing composite business processes.
