This years crop of entries in the Enterprise Collaboration & Messaging category ranged from groupware servers and spam filters to presentation and collaboration products—from both peer-to-peer and centralized camps. The ability to effect collaboration was extremely important to the judges in this category, as seen in the focus of the products that made it to the finalist and winner positions.

WINNER

Documentum eRoom 6

Documentum Inc.s eRoom 6 took the top prize in this category, in large part because it integrates tightly with Microsoft Office while maintaining support for multiple platforms. Also, eRoom has impressive support for XML, SOAP and WSDL (Web Services Description Language), allowing enterprises to extend the platform. Category judges agreed that eRoom 6 is an excellent option for tasks such as project management and for meetings in which attendees are actively collaborating on documents.

FINALISTS

Presence-AR 1.5

Advanced Reality Inc.s Presence-AR 1.5 is a software add-on for bringing P2P collaborative capabilities to existing applications. The judges looked at Presence-AR in conjunction with Microsoft Excel, although it can be used with a wide variety of applications. The Presence-AR approach lets collaborators work together on shared materials while staying in an application with which theyre familiar.

Centraone 6.0

Centra Software Inc.s Centraone 6.0 Collaboration Suite is striking in the breadth of functionality it offers. Many organizations will appreciate the two-way VOIP (Voice-Over-Ip) conferencing available in the eMeeting module. In addition to being less costly than audio delivered over standard phone lines, VOIP affords presenters some interesting facilities for managing virtual meetings. Also impressive are Centraones facilities for ensuring scalability and multilanguage support and its ability to integrate with the Microsoft Outlook client and Active Directory.
