Google confirmed it has acquired Everything is the Best, the startup that built social calendar application Plannr to help users make plans with friends.
A spokesperson for Google declined to discuss the search engine’s plans for the company, founded by Jason Prado an Ben Eidelson. However, the Google spokesperson noted:
“The team has built several innovative mobile applications, and we believe the team can help us make a better and more useful mobile experience for our users.”
Prado and Eidelson closed down Plannr this month, warning users that they will delete all data generate by the application Nov. 6. They added:
“Thank you for using Plannr. We’ve greatly enjoyed building Plannr and working with you to improve it over the last few months. However, we have decided to put our time and efforts elsewhere and have closed down Plannr.”
Everything is the Best also created mobile apps such as Ride penguin, Love Tap and SheetIt.
Clearly, the move was a talent purchase geared to give Google more firepower for its social software efforts, following the summer purchases of social widget maker Slide, virtual currency operator Jambool, social feed aggregator Angstro and social gaming concern SocialDeck.
Moreover, Prado and Eidelson’s mode of programming mobile apps should help the search engine’s expansion into the mobile sector, following its February purchase of mobile e-mail app ReMail.
