Sendmail joined forces with Hewlett-Packard and Intel last week to announce an offering to bring e-mail to deskless workers, mostly in the health care and manufacturing sectors.
Known as Workforce Mail, the Linux-based offering combines Sendmail e-mail software, HP ProLiant servers and access devices that use the Intel Centrino chip set, so that workers such as hospital nurses, field service staff, warehouse and store managers, or delivery personnel can have access to corporate e-mail systems.
Sendmail officials said Workforce Mail is intended to coexist with, rather than replace, other corporate e-mail systems and can integrate with them.
Pricing for Workforce Mail is about $8.50 per user. It is intended for sites with between 10,000 and 25,000 users.
