Nimsoft has taken advantage of new application programming interfaces from VMWare, enhancing its monitoring support for the virtualization vendors software.

The new APIs from VMWare, available in the most recent release of the software, allow administrators to extract more information than previously about the health of the software and applications, said Ken Vanderweel, marketing director at the Burlingame, Calif.-based company.

Nimsoft said about 25 percent of its customers are MSPs that buy its service monitoring level software to help manage and monitor their clients software.

“Many of our MSP customers have invested their server infrastructure on virtual platforms such as VMWare,” said Vanderweel. “VMWare is the top technology right now for building out that virtual server environment.”

Nimsofts NimBus software enables monitoring of the virtualization technology itself and also of the business applications that run on those virtual machines, he said. In addition, NimBus monitors these within the context of service level agreements, Vanderweel added.
