Sage Software plc. on Tuesday announced a Web-based version of its Act contact management software for use by workgroups.

Act Premium for Web 2005 is a Web-based version of Sages Act Premium for Workgroups 2005 product that is designed to give users the same experience online using the Web client and offline using the desktop client.

Act Premium for Web 2005 manages appointments, activities, documents, customer communications and campaigns, as well as contact notes/histories to support better forecasting and opportunity tracking, according to Sage officials, in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Users can access customer data using keyword searches and gain other organizational capabilities such as detailed views and list sorting, as well as organize data by group, subgroup and company.

The new product supports collaboration among team members using Web- or Windows permission-based access to customer information, team calendars and company resources, Sage officials said.

However, customers will still need the Windows-based Act Premium for Workgroups 2005 to gain access from PDAs and handheld devices and for Microsoft Outlook synchronization. Act Premium for Web 2005 is priced at approximately $400 per user. It can be packaged with Act Premium for Workgroups 2005 for approximately $660 per user.
