Outdated career sites from the desktop-PC era not only make a poor first impression on job seekers, it can scare off qualified candidates.
To help customers of its cloud-based human capital management (HCM) platform put their best foot forward, SAP launched new Career Site Builder tools for SuccessFactors Recruiting. The tool set is aimed at the average human resources (HR) or recruiting professional with little if any experience building or managing professional websites.
By employing a consumer-style approach to website design, Career Site Builder tools allow users to create branded, mobile-friendly career sites that can be quickly edited and reorganized as their needs change.
Mobile-enabled career sites are a must, according to SAP. Citing data from Deloitte, nearly two-thirds of job candidates explore their next career opportunity on a smartphone or tablet. Forty percent of job seekers take matters a step further by applying on a mobile device.
Forcing potential candidates to seek out a desktop browser can undermine an HR department’s attempts to fill vacant positions.
“Today’s job seekers won’t tolerate painful processes,” said David Ludlow, group vice president of Solution Management at SAP SuccessFactors, in a statement. “With SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting, we help our customers along their entire talent acquisition journey—sourcing candidates across the globe, engaging and nurturing top candidates, and simplifying the hiring process.”
Ludlow called the new offering “a beautiful reflection of what the cloud brings—simplicity, ease of use and great user experiences.” SAP acquired SuccessFactors in 2012 for $3.4 billion to help bolster the German business software giant’s cloud portfolio.
The new Career Site Builder combats “over customization,” or the tendency to pile on features and options in a bid to provide customized software experiences, continued Ludlow. “These tools prove you don’t need to go down that path to provide a personalized, branded site that will help you deliver better outcomes for the business more quickly.”
Career Site Builder for SuccessFactors Recruiting includes pre-formatted templates and dynamic layouts that render well on a variety of screen sizes. It also supports live site updates, allowing recruiters to make changes in real-time based on site usage patterns and feedback.
Career Site Builder is the latest in a string of SuccessFactors updates intended to help businesses adapt to today’s work forces.
In May, SAP announced it was working on machine-learning technology that would help organizations uncover workplace bias and encourage gender diversity.
In early 2016, the company added new continuous performance management capabilities to SuccessFactors Performance & Goals. Accessible via the SuccessFactors web or mobile applications, the new capabilities facilitate one-on-one check-ins, progress tracking, coaching and other forms of feedback that keep careers on track.
SAP’s moves appear to have earned it a major new customer.
Earlier this month, SAP announced that Microsoft had chosen SuccessFactors for its 114,000 full-time employees, eschewing its own HCM solutions. A month earlier, SAP announced it had selected Microsoft Azure as a third-party SuccessFactors cloud provider for joint customers.
