Siebel Systems Inc. on Tuesday announced Version 2.0 of its Universal Application Network integration software, introducing 50 new industry-specific integration applications.

The first 50 UAN applications that shipped last year as part of the 1.0 release were horizontal in focus, according to Siebel executives in San Mateo, Calif.

But in this release, Siebel is releasing 50 applications—supporting business processes based on best practices—specific to five vertical segments, including High Technology and Manufacturing, Communications and Media, Finance, Insurance and Healthcare, Energy and Automotive.

Applications across those verticals include customer and product lifecycle management, order management, billing management, and contact management.

There are several modules within each of those areas.

UAN applications work in tandem with enterprise application integration software to translate business processes across disparate business applications.

While the business processes supported are based on best practices, customers can customize the applications to fit the demands of their individual businesses, according to Nimish Mehta, the newly appointed group vice president for UAN at Siebel.

“In the future, well be looking to get broader business process coverage so that customers find out of the box all the processes they need,” Mehta said.

Siebel UAN 2.0 is available now. The company does not release pricing information for any of its products.
