SAN DIEGO—Siebel Systems Inc. made a number of announcements surrounding its Universal Application Network integration platform here Tues-day. The moves strengthened its ties with both IBM and Microsoft.
The company announced at its Siebel User Week 2003 its Siebel Business Integration Applications 3.0, which adds new integration processes for sales management, service management and employee relationship management, bringing the total number of industry-specific business processes offered to 120.
Siebel also announced a new release of Siebel Business Integration Applications, which runs on the IBM WebSphere Business Integration platform. It also introduced new deployment options for Universal Application Network (UAN) that use Microsofts Biztalk Server 2004 as a runtime engine and customization toolset.
Universal Application Network is currently available on BizTalk for the communications, media and energy industries. BizTalk executes UAN business integration processes and receives pre-built UAN transformation and validation maps via a UAN XSLT importer that Microsoft built.
In addition, Siebel and Microsoft announced that the two companies are delivering a new Siebel Smart Client, built on Microsofts .Net framework that provides enhanced integration with Microsoft Office applications. Siebel will also develop ap-plications for Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
Siebels 7.7 application suite, announced at the conference, includes improved integration for MS Office 2003 and Exchange for mobile knowledge workers. Microsoft Outlook records can be linked to data in the Siebel database and the Siebel Exchange Connector supports synchronization of calendar information, contacts and to-do lists between Siebel 7.7 and Exchange.
