Enterprise resource planning software developer SSA Global Technologies Inc. expanded its breadth Thursday with the acquisition of Epiphany Inc.
SSA Global, of Chicago, plans to acquire Epiphany, which develops CRM (customer relationship management) software, for $329 million.
“CRM is an important growth market,” said Mike Greenough, chairman, president and CEO of SSA Global, in a statement. “With Epiphany, we expect to enhance SSA CRM and the broad portfolio of solutions that will help customers and prospects address demand-driven business issues.”
Including the core CRM tenants—sales, service and marketing—Epiphanys suite of products includes customer analytics functionality. The applications are based on a similar architecture as SSAs, using J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) for a services-based environment.
The companies already have more than a few customers in common in a number of verticals, including manufacturing, finance and services.
The deal, subject to regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the next two to three months.
