Communications specialist Teo announced the availability of Unified Communications 4, the latest version of its unified communications (UC) platform. UC 4 includes more than 200 enhancements and several updated features for both end users and administrators. Users can now access all UC tools within the Teo Softphone via tighter integration with the Teo User Portal, and a Call Swipe feature enables Teo UC users to seamlessly transfer calls from device to device without interruption or disruption to other people on the call.

With the addition of the Schedule-based Auto Attendants feature, users can set different Auto Attendant behaviors based on settings such as time of day, day of the week and more, and the company’s Dial Plan Manager is more user-friendly and intuitive. An upgrade of mass-provisioning capabilities allows administrators to provision and configure all settings for thousands of users and devices. Additionally, Teo 4 incorporates the company’s simplified, streamlined licensing model.

“In today’s always-on world, unified communications is playing a more prominent role in business,” said Rich Costello, senior research analyst at IDC. “With its feature-rich and user intuitive platform, Teo’s UC solution is a cost-effective option today for organizations of all sizes that want to enable a highly productive mobile workforce while at the same time streamlining their IT operations from a communications perspective.”

Teo UC integrates core communications capabilities such as email, voicemail, voice conferencing, desk phones, mobile phones, softphones, IM, fax, E911 notification and call recording into one unified platform. The open-source technology also integrates with existing infrastructures and is scalable and flexible to help enable ease of management.

“Unlike other UC companies who are encumbered by their legacy technology and complex infrastructures, Teo is extremely nimble, allowing us to innovate quickly based on customer demand,” said Thomas Beck, director of business development and marketing for Teo. “The upgrades included in Teo 4 were designed to further take the complexity out of UC and provide the industry’s only truly unified communications solution-from both an end user and administrator perspective.”

Deanne Butler, director of accounting at QVD Aquaculture, a specialist in sustainably raised seafood and a Teo customer, said UC 4 provides QVD Aquaculture with a robust UC solution that is extremely easy to use and intuitive. “Increased integration between the user portal and our Teo Softphones, as well as the Call Swipe feature, gives us a level of mobility that we would never be able to achieve without Teo,” Butler said. “All of that, combined with the company’s streamlined licensing model and superior service and support, makes us confident in Teo as our long-term communications provider.”
