SEOUL, South Korea—Samsung Electronics has implemented a “Sales document integration management system” using Adobe Systems PDF software, officials here have said. The Adobe Acrobat document management solution allows Samsung to save time and money by streamlining the management of various contracts and documents, company officials say.
The system, which identifies each user and provides them with appropriate access rights, has allowed Samsung to unify its various document management routes. The Acrobat-based system, which is a Web-based open system, also offers enhanced security. Samsung Electronics expects to save close to $4 million by reducing costs related to storage, document transfer, paper and printing costs, and labor costs, officials said.
Samsung next plans to convert archived documents into PDF files in order to save space and reduce management costs. Documents currently stored on private PCs will be centralized on the companys servers.
In addition to Samsung Electronics, Adobe Korea provided Korea Telecom, the Seoul city government, and the Korean National Assembly Secretariat with the Acrobat solution, according to Adobe officials.
