      Citrix Systems Inc. Monday announced a new certification, the CCIA (Citrix Certified Integration Architect), along with a corresponding training course, CTX-6100 Citrix Core Technologies and Architecture.

      The new architect-level certification is targeted at systems integrators and architects who want to demonstrate Citrix product knowledge and competency in designing and implementing Citrix architectures.

      Officials at Citrix, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., said in a release that the CCIA certification complements the CCEA (Citrix Certified Enterprise administrator) certification, which provides administrative skills for supporting latter stages in IT project lifecycles. The CCA (Citrix Certified Administrator) certification is a prerequisite for both the CCEA and CCIA.

      The corresponding training course, CTX-6100 Citrix Core Technologies and Architecture, is designed for technicians who are familiar with Citrix products, and for Citrix customers and partners seeking to gain greater knowledge of the architectural components and communications with the Citrix environment.

      Citrix will roll out additional courses for the CCIA track later this year. They will focus on:

      • Citrix MetaFrame XP design and integration considerations, including the Windows operating system, network management, printing and application integration;
      • Architectural considerations of Citrix software, including Nfuse Elite, Nfuse Classic, Secure Gateway and the ICA protocol; and
      • Project skills required for designing, implementing and deploying large-scale Citrix layouts.

      CCIA candidates must pass two exams, one of which, #610 Citrix Core Technologies and Architecture, will be live in March. The 610 will be based on content from the CTX-6100 Citrix Core Technologies and Architecture course. The second exam, currently under development, will cover course content from later CCIA training courses and will include a hands-on lab assessment. The cost of either test is $100.

      Training and exams are available through Prometric. Pricing may vary slightly according to Citrix Authorized Learning Center, but in general, the cost of training is $400-$600/day. For more Citrix training information, click here.
