Digital Evolution Inc. on Monday announced that it has changed its name to SOA Software to reflect its focus on service-oriented architectures.

Santa Monica, Calif.-based SOA Software Inc. also has a new domain name, www.soa.com, and according to company officials, its mission is to provide products and services to help enterprises build and manage SOAs.

SOA Software offers an SOA fabric solution that includes its Service Manager, registry and XML VPN products.

“SOA Software has developed the most comprehensive SOA fabric solution on the market today, enabling our customers to deploy true enterprisewide SOAs,” Paul Gigg, CEO of SOA Software, said in a statement.

“Our name change reflects this fact and highlights our experience and vision in the market.”

Ronald Schmelzer, an analyst at Waltham, Mass.-based ZapThink LLC, said, “By renaming itself SOA Software, theres pretty much no doubt as to what market they are focusing on. Its clearly focused on SOA, but its not just management and security anymore, but rather the infrastructure required to make SOA work.”

“Also, the markets for SOA are still consolidating significantly,” Schmelzer added. “Its down to about three or four vendors in the Web services management space, and that might further consolidate.

“Were seeing the same trends in security, process and metadata management. With a moniker like SOA Software, the company will probably be looking to be the acquirer rather than be consolidated out of the space.”
