Eight Steps to Enterprise 2.0

Create a steering committee to drive enterprise 2.0 at your company. Make sure this group pulls together influential colleagues who ‘get it.’ Pinpoint the people in your organization who make things happen.

Work together to catalog current organizational efforts, such as blogs and Wikis, and problems that enterprise 2.0 applications might solve. Focus on the bottom line, such as client interaction or regulatory hurdles.

Enterprise 2.0 is about sharing, which can be inhibited by organizational and/or sociological factors. Most taggers are 40 years old or younger and tend to be tech-savvy. So, if your user population is older, less technically inclined or just more private

Identify information that you and others would like to share or know. Find the nexus of those two points, and gauge worker interest in the process.

Keep the pilot tight and focused. Not only do such programs help IT kick the tires on these products, but they also develop a nucleus of users to bookmark and build the community necessary for successful deployment.

Approach senior management with a problem facing the enterprise and articulate to them how enterprise 2.0 technologies such as social bookmarking can solve it.

Enterprise 2.0 adoption takes time.
