U.S. companies will need about 900,000 new information technology workers in 2001, according to a survey issued last week by the Information Technology Association of America. While thats less than the 1.6 million new IT workers needed in 2000, recruiters still predict a shortfall of 425,000 skilled workers this year.

DoubleClick last week launched a new division called Diameter, which offers a suite of research tools to analyze consumers online behavior. Diameters services, developed from DoubleClicks acquisition of market research planning provider @Plan, are intended to let advertisers measure the effectiveness of ad campaigns on factors like brand awareness.

Brill Media Ventures, publisher of Brills Content magazine, last week said it will merge with Powerful Media, which runs media industry site Inside.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The merged company, which will launch a new magazine called Inside Content, announced an expanded partnership with Primedia under which Inside.com will be combined with Primedias Media Central trade magazine site.
