Informatica Corp. on Monday announced the availability of a new Web-based metadata management tool, called SuperGlue, that the company says will increase transparency of information assets and processes.
The new tool integrates metadata from various systems and portrays and controls the movement, lineage and utilization of information assets, said company officials in Redwood City, Calif.
The software provides dashboard views of information flows and is being positioned by Informatica as a regulatory compliance tool as well as a way to reduce business risk and cost and improve efficiency.
SuperGlue captures, documents and graphically presents data flows and dependencies across all systems and processes to provide audit trails that track the origins and properties of data
It also provides analysis and reporting via Web-based dashboards and other visualization techniques to gain insights into data quality and usage, as well as detects redundancies and performs change impact analyses, company officials said.
SuperGlue includes a searchable catalog of an enterprises information assets, coupled with their business and technical attributes. This directory can be personalized by role.
Data sources the software can track include Informatica software and third-party metadata repositories, business intelligence software, applications, databases, flat files, or XML and CWM/XMI sources.
SuperGlue supports portal deployment and Web services. Pricing starts at $150,000.
