Atlanta-based ComputerJobs.com announced Nov. 29 that it was acquired by JobServe.com, an Essex, England-based Internet recruiting site.

ComputerJobs.com was founded in 1995 “by and for information technology professionals,” according to its mission statement, focusing its computer-related job opportunities and career-related content into 18 vertical skill sets with more than 19 metropolitan markets.

It boasts job listings from more than 4,000 companies, including IBM, Microsoft, Coca-Cola and Deloitte and Touche.

In its 11-year history, the company says it has helped more than 1.5 million IT pros locate jobs.

JobServe.com acquired ComputerWork.com, an IT industry niche specialist online recruitment company, in May 2006 and 10 days later, CareerBoard.com, a Cleveland-based online employment resource.

With this purchase, JobServe.com is hoping to further increase its base among U.S. job seekers.

“I am never satisfied with the status quo, and our acquisition of ComputerJobs.com along with our previous purchase of ComputerWork.com and CareerBoard.com provides us with the ideal platform and user base for our expansion into the U.S.,” said JobServe managing director and founder Robbie Cowling in a statement.

Founded in 1993 by two IT contractors with no previous experience running a business, JobServe operates in 17 industry sectors, most non-technically related.

“JobServe dominates the UK market, is the second largest IT job site in Australia, and has shown a sincere interest in expanding into the U.S.,” said Mike Gilfillan, founder and CEO of ComputerJobs.com.

“…Combining our resources will create an even more powerful recruitment resource for both job-seekers and employers in the U.S. and abroad.”
