Hosting automation enabler Ensim Corp. announced two products and an alliance with Houston-based Compaq Computer Corp. last week.

Ensims products include Version 2.5 of its flagship ServerXchange system, which adds Windows 2000 support. Previous versions supported Solaris and Red Hat Inc.s Red Hat Linux. The new version costs $25,000 and is available now.

In addition, officials of the Sunnyvale, Calif., company announced Webppliance LS, hosting appliance software for companies not ready for the larger-scale ServerXchange. LS features three levels of administration to give hosting providers, resellers and customers complete self-management capabilities. Its targeted at hosting providers that manage fewer than 5,000 domains, is designed for single-server installations and is available for immediate download from Ensims Web site.

LS costs $99 for a 10-domain license, $599 for a 250-domain license and $999 for an unlimited license.

With Compaq, Ensim will co-develop ProLiant-based servers running ServerXchange.

The companies will also develop an infrastructure solution for hosting providers to help with remote data center management, based on Compaq tools such as Remote Insight Lights-Out edition and Insight Manager XE.
