110 Factors That Make the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 a High-End Handset

10 Factors That Make the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 a High-End Handset

The Motorola Droid Turbo 2 boasts a number of features that shout “high end,” including a “shatterproof” display, long battery life and customization options.

2The Design Is All About Protection

The Design Is All About Protection

The Droid Turbo 2 comes with a design that’s all about protection. The device has a sturdy back case designed to handle spills and falls from a desk. In addition, Motorola has reinforced its screen and used hardened material to protect the device’s spine. Motorola claims the Droid Turbo 2 will deliver a solid design and protection against falls, and it certainly appears that way.

      3There’s More Customization Options

      There's More Customization Options

As with other Motorola devices, the Droid Turbo 2 is designed for customization addicts. Users will be able to use the Moto Maker platform to choose the type of housing, as well as colors and other key features. Motorola has dedicated much of its time and energy to its Moto Maker customization, so it’s perhaps no surprise that one of its top products features the option.

4‘ShatterShield’ Display Enables Handset to Survive Drops

One of the more interesting additions to the Turbo 2 is its “ShatterShield” display. According to Motorola, the 5.4-inch Quad HD screen built into the Droid Turbo 2 is completely “shatterproof.” The company claims that a special coating and protective features all but eliminate the chances the screen will fracture when dropped.

5That Is Some Serious Battery Life

That Is Some Serious Battery Life

Enterprise customers seeking a higher-end smartphone that can last all day will find a winner in the Droid Turbo 2. Motorola says that the smartphone is capable of lasting for 48 hours on a single charge. While there are some other products that boast of long battery life, few and far between can say that they can actually stay on for two days.

6Motorola Says It’s Also Water Repellent

Motorola Says It's Also Water Repellent

Motorola and Verizon are also touting the Turbo 2’s water resistance. In fact, Motorola calls the Droid Turbo 2 “water-repellent.” The device achieves that designation by offering an “advanced nano-coating technology” that seals surface pores and keeps water out.

7Motorola Goes With the High-End Snapdragon CPU

Motorola Goes With the High-End Snapdragon CPU

If Motorola wants to take on the likes of Apple and Samsung, it needs to deliver a high-end experience. And the only way to do that is with a nice processor. The Droid Turbo 2 delivers on that by offering the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. The chip has a 2GHz clock speed and runs eight cores. Alongside that is the Adreno 430 GPU. In other words, under the hood, the Droid Turbo 2 can hang with the best of them.

      8A Top-Notch Camera for a Top-Notch Device

To its credit, Motorola didn’t skimp on its camera technology. The Droid Turbo 2’s rear-facing camera has 21 megapixels and support for 4K video recording. On the front side, users will find a 5-megapixel camera with night mode and a wide-angle lens. All in all, the cameras sound quite nice.

9The ‘Turbocharging’ Features Add Battery Life

The 'Turbocharging' Features Add Battery Life

No device named the Turbo 2 is complete without the ability to be turbocharged. The smartphone comes with a Turbocharging feature that will add 13 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes. And for those who don’t like to be tethered, the Droid Turbo 2 supports PMA and Qi wireless chargers, though such accessories don’t come in the box.

      10Data Storage Options Are Outstanding

      Data Storage Options Are Outstanding

While it’s always nice to have ample onboard storage, the Droid Turbo 2 still gets the job done. The device comes in 32GB and 64GB variants, which puts it in line with many midrange and some high-end smartphones. That said, the smartphone also includes support for microSD cards with up to 2TB of storage. Many devices currently on store shelves have only a fraction of that through microSD, making the Turbo 2 a standout in terms of storage.

11The Price Runs Toward the Higher End

The Price Runs Toward the Higher End

The Motorola Droid Turbo 2’s price is about what customers would expect from a high-end Android smartphone trying to get attention in a crowded market. The device starts at $624 off contract, but comes with lifetime tech support and free returns. For that price, customers will need to accept one caveat: It’s available only at Verizon.
