In a move that could alter the landscape of the Tablet PC market, newcomer Averatec has extended its notebook product line to include a convertible Tablet PC aimed at consumers. The C3500 will be the first Tablet to offer an AMD processor: the Mobile AMD Athlon XP-M (2200+). It will also be, at $1,349.99 list, among the most affordable Tablets in the retail market.
The C3500 is both a tablet and a notebook to be reckoned with. It has a bright 12.1-inch, high-contrast TFT display that could be a gem in the great outdoors. The silver pen is wedged into the screen for easier access. Averatec also isnt stingy when it comes to features. The C3500 includes four USB ports, audio out, 802.11g wireless, S-Video, and a VGA port. The company even found a way to integrate an optical drive (DVD/CD-RW) into the unit and still keep its weight to a minimal 4.5 lbs.
The Averatec C3500 is available both online and in stores nationwide, including Staples, BestBuy, Circuit City, and Wal-Mart. (Visit www.averatec.com for a full list of all participating retail stores.)
