More Connections Giving another nod to the short-range wireless technology, TDK Systems Inc. has introduced a Bluetooth expansion sled for Compaq Computer Corp.s iPaq handheld computer.

Wearing a Jacket The BluePaq is a clear jacket that clips on to the iPaq and enables iPaq users to connect to other Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as mobile phones, laptops, printers and other PDAs (personal digital assistants). Bluetooth is a short-range wireless technology that is meant to best infrared because Bluetooth does not require a direct line-of-sight connection. It has struggled for adoption for the last three years and is finally starting to show up in products.

Weighing In The BluePaq weighs less than 2 ounces and sells for $240. TDK also sells Bluetooth add-on hardware for laptops, PCs and a range of Palm Inc. PDAs.
