FCC Certifies UWB Positioning Tags

The Federal Communications Commission has certified the UWB (ultra wide-band) technology of a Denver-based developer of RFID indoor location positioning systems. The FCC certification gives Ubisense the green light to sell its products in the U.S.

Ubisenses UWB tagging systems differs from RFID which typically uses single bands within the radio spectrum to communicate positioning data. UWB simultaneously transmits signals across radio bands ranging from 3.1GHz to 10.6 GHz for short durations.
