Software-as-a-service solutions specialist Fiberlink, whose services focus on secure enterprise mobile device and application management, announced the release of MaaS360 Mobile Device Management, a platform that helps small to medium-size businesses securely manage corporate and personal devices, distribute mobile applications and share documents. The platform requires no minimum device commitment is designed to let small businesses gradually expand a bring your own device (BYOD) program.

MaaS360 also allows business to embrace productivity enablement tools for application management and document collaboration. The platform, designed for smartphones, tablets and laptops (either Windows or Mac), is delivered as a cloud-based service and is offered as a subscription service for a flat monthly fee that includes updates, maintenance, and 24×7 support. A free 30-day trial is also available. Through the MaaS360 Cloud Extender, enterprise system integration is possible, with instant discovery of devices accessing enterprise systems, and IT departments can manage BlackBerry Enterprise Server policies.

Features include the ability to configure device enrollment settings, send enrollment requests over the air using SMS, email, or a custom URL, create and distribute customized acceptable use policies, register corporate and employee owned (BYOD) devices, initiate individual or bulk device enrollments, and apply or modify default device policy settings. In addition, MaaS360 provides a unified mobile device management console for smartphones and tablets with centralized policy and control across multiple platforms.

“In today’s challenging economy, SMBs need an efficient and affordable way to manage, secure and control company data while unlocking the productivity of BYOD-ers,” Christopher Clark, president of Fiberlink, said in a press statement. “MaaS360’s true cloud model and our commitment to service excellence for customers of all sizes enables us to offer an MDM solution that is quick to deploy and easy to use with significant time and cost savings.”

The platform also provides security and compliance management capabilities to continuously monitor devices, like requiring passcode policies with configurable quality, length, and duration. IT departments can also enforce encryption and password visibility settings, set device restrictions on features, applications, iCloud, and content ratings, detect and restrict jailbroken and rooted devices and remotely locate, lock and wipe lost or stolen devices. Businesses can also selectively wipe corporate data while leaving personal data intact, define and implement real-time compliance rules with automated actions and enable geo-fencing rules to enforce location related compliance.

SIHO Insurance Services, a provider of employee health benefits, deployed MaaS360 to ensure the security and compliance of Apple iPhones and Google Android-based devices, and it is saving the company up to $15,000 in implementation costs over an on-premises solution, and $10,000 annually in software licensing and maintenance, according to a Fiberlink release.
“Our Fiberlink representative reaches out to us on almost a monthly basis, just to see how we’re doing with the solution, offering support and updating us on new system features,” Mike Clancy, vice president of information technology services at SIHO Insurance Services, said in a prepared statement. “This proactive communication and ongoing relationship has really helped maximize the value of MaaS360 MDM.”
