Palm Inc. today announced an HTML-based browser for its Internet-enabled devices.
The Palm Web Browser supports the Palm m125, m130, m500, m515 and i705 handhelds, according to officials at the Santa Clara, Calif., company.
Costing $19.95 to download from the company site, it is due in the United States on April 8 and in Europe by the end of April.
While this is the companys first HTML browser, it is not the only one on the market. Handspring Inc.s Blazer browser, available since last year, also runs on the Palm OS and sells for $19.95.
With better support for graphics and traditional features like back, forward and refresh, the Palm Web Browser is more sophisticated than the companys previous “web clipping” technology.
The browser also includes the ability to cache data for offline viewing. It is available in multiple languages.
