Alert the 13-year-old girls! Sony Ericsson’s new Equinox phone has arrived on the T-Mobile network.
Supporting 3G speeds, the phone includes a 3.2-megapixel camera and an integrated application for easily uploading video to YouTube. There’s also an FM radio, Stereo Bluetooth and a 2.2-inch QVGA display.
Most distinctly, however, the Equinox offers a pulsing light effect, and users can program the phone to pulse in one of five colors – Amber, Sapphire, Beryl, Diamond or Amethyst – depending on the caller. There’s also lots of wallpaper themes.
“The Sony Ericsson Equinox phone echoes Sony Ericsson’s tradition of style, personalization and multimedia,” said Karen Morris, with Sony Ericsson, in a statement. “With a host of dynamic features that put the power of personality in your hands, it’s a stunning 3G phone that reflects the mood of each individual user.”
The Equinox measures 3.7 by 2 by 0.6 inches, weighs 3.4 ounces, comes in a color called Carbon and works on GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and HSDPA 2100/1700 networks.
It also comes with some super hot fans. On Oct. 31, tennis minx Maria Sharapova will be at the T-Mobile store in Los Angeles, as part of a look-a-like contest. “Fashionistas who think they can match Maria’s style will get the chance to meet Maria and compete to win the title of Maria’s best look-a-like,” reports Sony Ericsson in the statement. Other prizes include an Equinox phone, a Sony Vaio computer and “Maria-style VIP treatment for a day.” (No word on whether that includes the affections of a small dog.)
As if that weren’t enough, Equinox and Kim Kardashian fans can also visit www.kimkardashian.com or facebook.com/seusa for the rules of a Sony Ericsson-sponsored Get Your Glam On sweepstakes, the winner of which will get a trip to Los Angeles to “meet Kim and receive the ultimate makeover from her personal glam squad, including,” – and this is may be the most fun part – “a day and night look that coincides with the phones’ unique day/night features.”
T-Mobile’s full holiday lineup also includes a winter-white version of the BlackBerry Curve 8520, the T-Mobile Tap, the Nokia 3711 and the Android-running Motorola Cliq and myTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition phone.
