Huawei’s 5.5-Inch GX8 Smartphone Coming to U.S. for $350
The Huawei GX8 smartphone, which will arrive this quarter, includes a Full HD display, a 13-megapixel main camera and runs on Android.
Huawei’s Unlocked GX8 Smartphone
Using an enclosure made mostly from aircraft-quality aluminum built using ceramic sand-blasting technology, the GX8 is made to be stylish and durable. The 5.5-inch 1,920 by 1,080 Full HD display includes a slight 2.5-degree curved surface and is covered with tough Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Solid Components
Running the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, the Huawei GX8 smartphone includes a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 eight-core processor, 2GB of memory, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot that accepts an additional storage card up to 128GB.
Built for GSM Networks
The GX8 can be used on GSM networks in the United States, including with AT&T, T-Mobile and MetroPCS. The handset also includes WiFi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and is powered by a 3,000mAH battery. The phone is 3 inches wide, 5.98 inches long, 0.29 inches thick and 5.89 ounces.
A Rich Audio Experience
Using six bottom-mounted speaker sound holes, the GX8 promises a louder, clearer and richer audio experience for users when listening to music or conversations.
Built-In Fingerprint Security
The fingerprint sensor in the GX8 reads a user’s fingerprint and unlocks the device for use in just 0.5 seconds, according to Huawei. It also can be used to answer calls or control the device’s built-in alarms by keeping a finger against the sensor for a longer duration.
Featuring a 13-Megapixel Main Camera
The Huawei GX8 includes a 13-megapixel main rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization and a 28mm wide‐angle sapphire lens for capturing sharp images in challenging conditions. The camera is designed to take quality images in ultra‐low-light conditions using advanced flash features, the company said. In addition, the GX8 has a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies.
Three Color Choices
The $349.99 Huawei GX8 smartphone will be available in Mystique Champagne, Space Grey or Horizon Gold through BestBuy.com, select Best Buy stores, GetHuawei.com and Amazon.com in the first quarter of 2016.
