The latest Huawei TalkBand B2 smart band wearable device is available, starting at $179.99, and offers new integration with Jawbone’s UP health and fitness-tracking app to give users detailed information and advice about their activities and fitness routines.

Sales of the TalkBand B2 launched June 3 on the company’s GetHuawei.com Website, where consumers can choose from three styles—black or white sport versions or a gold-tone version with a leather wristband. The black or white models sell for $179.99 while the gold-tone version sells for $199.99.

The TalkBand B2 features a 0.73-inch passive-matrix organic LED (PMOLED) touch-screen display, 96KB of memory, 512KB of on-board storage, 16MB of external storage via Bluetooth, a 90mAh battery and Bluetooth connectivity. The smart band also allows hands-free calling through compatible smartphones that run on Android 4.0 or later or on Apple’s iOS 7.0 or later.

Also built into the device is a six-axis motion sensor that automatically identifies what type of exercise a wearer is doing at the time so it can then track and monitor the user’s fitness data, according to Huawei. The smart band can identify whether a wearer is using it while walking, running, cycling or hill-climbing, and it can track the number of calories that are burned during the activity.

The TalkBand B2 also transforms into a detachable Bluetooth headset that can be worn on the user’s ear and a remote camera trigger that will click the shutter on a user’s smartphone when desired.

The TalkBand B2 is the second generation of the device, which first came out as the TalkBand B1 in November 2014.

Perhaps most intriguing about the new smart band is its new integration with Jawbone’s UP health and fitness-tracking app, which helps users turn their fitness data into a fitness advisor, according to Huawei. The partnership with Jawbone lets TalkBand B2 users download and use the UP app and its Smart Coach function to receive personalized recommendations and reminders so they can improve their workouts and overall health.

UP is also an activity tracker that monitors how much a wearer moves, sleeps and performs other activities.

In addition to being available through the Huawei Website, the TalkBand B2 can also be purchased through Amazon.com, BestBuy.com and in-store and online at Fry’s Electronics, according to Huawei.

Wearers can also use UP to connect with more than 3,000 other apps in a wide range of categories, from monitoring workouts to connecting to their home thermostats.
