In a keynote address at the Intel Developer Forum here Tuesday, Intel Corp. general manager Louis Burns reiterated the companys vision of a digital home where high-definition content is piped wirelessly throughout the home and beyond, simply and easily.
Intel Corp.s vision of the digital home is focused upon “Kessler,” the companys first concept PC designed for the digital home. In turn, Kessler will use the “Grantsdale” chipset, which will integrate a wireless access point for ubiquitous wireless connections.
“Were at one of the most exciting points in our 35 year history based on everything (CEO) Craig (Barrett) talked about this morning: everything is going digital,” Burns said.
Historically, Intels consumer offerings have centered around the home, although the company has only begun emphasizing that fact in recent years. At the Consumer Electronics Show in January, Intel president Paul Otellini introduced the concept of the “Entertainment PC”, a slim chassis designed to look like just another component in a stereo rack.
