iPass Inc. this week unveiled a new system that is designed to prevent mobile workers from inadvertently infecting the corporate network with their laptops.
Universal Policy Enforcement lets IT managers enforce policies across any remote or mobile Internet connection.
It also protects networks from security breaches caused by devices that have been infected by other networks, such as public Wi-Fi hot spots or cellular data links, said officials at iPass, in Redwood Shores, Calif.
If a computer tries to log in to a network and is found out of compliance with any policies, the system can prevent the user from logging into the companys VPN until all the policies have been enforced.
Universal Policy Enforcement also can be used to distribute and update business-critical software that isnt necessarily related to security, officials said.
