The latest XM70 handheld computer features a 3.5-inch TFT QVGA (240-by-320) color touch-screen display, a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 1GB of DDR SDRAM and 4GB of NAND internal storage.

The XM70, the latest model in the company’s XM device lineup, is built to fit comfortably in a user’s hand for a full work shift in challenging environments. The device is 5.75 inches long, 3.11 inches wide and 1.2 inches thick, and weighs about 9.85 ounces, including its battery.

The XM70 comes with a choice of a backlit numeric keypad (pictured) or a backlit PDA keypad, depending on the needs of enterprise users. Both models are built to scan barcodes for users in a wide range of businesses, including retail, hospitality, health care, transportation, logistics and ticketing. Buyers also have a choice of removable 2,400mAh or 4,000mAh rechargeable Li-ion batteries. Pricing for the device starts at $1,595.

The XM70’s optional PDA keyboard controls offer users who love four-way navigation keys just what they are looking for in a portable enterprise handheld. The ruggedized device is also built to survive multiple 4-foot drops onto concrete in a wide range of temperatures, and it is designed to meet IP54 water- and dust-resistance standards.

The XM70 can be purchased with either Android or Microsoft Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 operating systems and then migrated to the other as needed by business and government users. Also included is a user-accessible microSD card slot to expand internal storage, as well as 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.
