Eastman Kodak last week announced it will stop selling film-based cameras in the United States, Canada and Western Europe and concentrate on selling digital camera solutions.
The company will continue to sell film-based 35-millimeter cameras and Advanced Photo Systems cameras in emerging markets, such as China, India, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
“Kodak is and will remain committed to manufacturing and marketing the worlds highest-quality film,” said Bernard Masson, president of Digital & Film Imaging Systems for Kodak, in a statement. “Consistent with our strategy, we will focus our film investments on opportunities that provide faster and attractive returns while reducing investments where we see unsatisfactory returns.”
