AT&T announced its latest GoPhone prepaid phone, the $100 LG Phoenix 2, which gives customers another option for a no-contract smartphone on the company’s 4G LTE network.

The LG Phoenix 2 handset features a 5-inch HD touch-screen display (1,280 by 720 resolution), a 1.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor (model MSM8909), 1.5GB of memory, 16GB of on-board storage and a microSD card slot that accepts storage cards up to 32GB.

The smartphone also includes an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 4x digital zoom, LED flash, and video recording and playback capabilities at 720p at 30 frames per second. Also included is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 4X digital zoom and LED flash. Also featured are burst shot capabilities, as well as gesture shot, which allows users to employ a hand gesture to trigger the shutter. A “Cheese” shutter capability is also included that allows users to trigger the shutter using a voice command.

The LG Phoenix 2 runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and has a 2,125mAh removable battery. It also features a softly curved design and rear-located control keys for power, volume and shutter operations. The handset is 5.69 inches long, 2.81 inches wide, 0.34 inches thick and weighs 4.94 ounces. It is available in black.

The Phoenix 2, a GSM quad-band world phone, also includes 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, near-field communication (NFC) and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity, as well as mobile hotspot capabilities to connect up to eight devices.

The phone will be available at select national retailers starting May 14 and will be in AT&T stores starting June 10.

In April, AT&T announced two other GoPhone prepaid, no-contract phone models, the $130 Samsung Galaxy Express Prime handset and the $80 Samsung Galaxy Express 3 phone. The Samsung Galaxy Express Prime handset is a 4G LTE smartphone that features a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display (1,280 by 720) with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 cover, a 1.3GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos 3475 processor, 1.5GB of memory, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD slot that accepts storage cards up to 128GB.

Also included is a 5-megapixel, auto-focus rear-facing camera with an f/2.2 lens, LED flash and HD video; a 2MP front-facing camera with Gesture Control and Beauty Effect selfie modes; and WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity. The device, which is a quad-band world phone, also includes a 2,600mAh removable battery and runs on the Android Marshmallow 6.0 operating system. The handset comes in dark gray.

The Samsung Galaxy Express 3 smartphone features a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.1GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot that accepts storage cards up to 128GB. The handset, which comes in white, also includes a 2,050mAh battery and a 5MP rear-facing camera and runs on Android 6.0.

AT&T’s GoPhone plans start at $30 per month for a plan with unlimited talk and text in the United States, with data available for $5 per 100MB for users who don’t require much data. The $45 GoPhone plan offers 2GB of high-speed data and unlimited U.S. talk and text, while the $60 plan offers 5GB of high-speed data and unlimited U.S. talk and text. The $45 and $60 plans can get a $5 per month discount by participating in an automatic refill program. Rollover data is also included in the $45 and $60 monthly plans.
