Mobile High-Tech Pervades Buick’s New Avenir Concept Car

The Shapely Avenir Evokes Speed and Fine Design
The Avenir, French for future, is a rear-wheel drive concept car designed by a team of GM engineers and designers in the United States and Australia. It includes a next-generation direct-injected V-6 engine, a nine-speed automatic transmission and driver-selectable suspension damping.
Come Inside the Beautiful Avenir
The Avenir concept vehicle includes a 12-inch instrument cluster and a driver’s cockpit that looks ahead to the idea of autonomous driving. The minimalist display includes speed, pre-set profile information and directions to the desired destination.
Crisp, Large Seatback Displays for Rear Seat Passengers
Rear seat passengers will each enjoy 10-inch rear seatback display monitors where they will be able to access social media, watch movies or listen to streaming audio services using built-in 4G LTE, WiFi hotspots and USB ports.
Integrating a Wide Range of Driver Inputs
The Avenir communicates with its driver through a wide range of inputs, including touch, gestures, speech and built-in controllers. In addition, driver-recognition features can automatically sync infotainment preferences for each driver when they sit in the car.
Deeper Smartphone Integration Is Envisioned
The Avenir builds on existing smartphone-vehicle integrations by seeking ways to make such mash-ups easier and more streamlined for users. The idea, according to Buick, is to continue to help adapt a driver’s mobile communications needs and expectations to the vehicle.
Central 12-Inch In-Dash Display for Avenir Systems
The included next-generation Buick IntelliLink infotainment system has a12-inch-diagonal color touch-screen that will recognize user music preferences, calendar schedules and recently visited locations from a cell phone’s GPS system when the driver enters the car.
Innovative Interior Design and Lighting
The Avenir features unique interior lighting, including this striking and beautiful under-console lighting that brightens the spacious interior. The car also is designed to include home integration technologies that would turn house lights on and off or close a garage door for owners.
A Sculptured Body as Beautiful as its Flowing Interior
Super-bright light-emitting diode (LED) exterior lighting brings a high-tech look to all four corners of the Avenir, providing a hint of the innovative and forward-thinking features inside.
