New Arm Processor Core Targets WLAN, Bluetooth Chips

New design reduces power consumption for wireless

ARM Ltd. on Wednesday said it reduced the size and number of transistors on its processor core design. The new design reduces power consumption when connecting to wireless networks. The ARM968E-S core is designed to be incorporated into chips for PDAs and cell phones that use 802.11 WLANs or Bluetooth.
