Nokia, a founding member of the WiMax Forum for a global broadband wireless access standard, is not renewing its membership in the group it once enthusiasticallyax and plans instead to concentrate on 3G and Wi-Fi development. It will, however, monitor WiMax development and may rejoin the group if opportunities for infrastructure projects for 802.16e base stations and handsets develop.
