Hong Kong-based smartphone vendor NUU Mobile is launching its fourth unlocked Android smartphone in the United States, the new NU2S, which will operate on a wide assortment of mobile networks from carriers including AT&T, Cricket Wireless, Lyca Mobile, MetroPCS, Net10 Wireless, Straight Talk Wireless, T-Mobile and Walmart Family Mobile by T-Mobile.

The phone, which retails for $99.99, features a 4.5-inch qHD touch-screen display, a 1.3GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 quad-core processor, a MediaTek MTK 6582 chipset, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage (expandable to 32GB with a microSD card). The NU2S also includes a rear-facing 5-megapixel auto-focus camera with flash, a front-facing 2MP camera and a removable 2,000mAh battery. The smartphone, which is 5.25 inches long, 2.6 inches wide and 0.36 inches thick, weighs 4.8 ounces and runs on the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system.

The NU2S can be used on GSM networks and has dual SIM slots, one of which works with 4G networks and the other which supports 2G networks. The dual SIM slots allow users to have two different phone numbers on their device or to use one of the slots for a local phone number while traveling internationally.

The smartphone also includes WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities.

Also included in the phone is data transfer technology called HotKnot from MediaTek, which lets users transfer data from phone to phone by tapping the screens of the devices together. In addition, users can make PayPal payments and fund transfers using HotKnot, which also allows the data to be synced with compatible smartwatches.

      Owners receive a two-year non-transferable warranty and a one-year warranty on the device’s battery.

The NU2S can be purchased from BestBuy.com, Target.com and NUUmobile.com, as well as through Meijer stores.

“The NU2S phone addresses a growing entry-level consumer need we didn’t previously offer,” John Murtha, vice president of sales for NUU Mobile, said in a statement. “The phone is cost-effective, yet still features the technology tools consumers have grown accustomed to—email, streaming music and media, camera and GPS mapping. Like all of our unlocked phones, the NU2S empowers the customer to choose a carrier plan that best fits their lifestyle.”

The smartphone comes with a black rear cover, while a set of three interchangeable rear covers in white, pink and blue can be purchased for $19.99 to personalize the handsets.
