Opera Software and Yahoo have announced a partnership aimed at delivering the Opera Mini Mobile Web Browser to more mobile phone users around the world.

Yahoo officials said the company will begin distributing Opera Mini via Yahoo Mobile and also as a standalone download from Yahoo’s mobile Web sites in the near future. The Opera Mini client will be available free of charge.

Opera and Yahoo will be providing access to the full Internet on a wide range of devices. Opera is tapping Yahoo’s extensive distribution network to allow millions of users to access Opera Mini for a rich mobile Web surfing experience, the company said.

“As the most popular mobile browser on the planet, Opera Mini will also be available to users of Yahoo Mobile,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “Yahoo Mobile with Opera Mini is easily accessible to end users, operators and manufacturers and provides a cost-effective means of getting the Internet on your phone. Together, Yahoo and Opera will bring the full Web experience to your phone, similar to how you know it from your desktop computer.”

Also in a statement, David Ko, senior vice president, Connected Life, Yahoo, said, “We are excited to announce this partnership with Opera to bring Opera Mini to Yahoo Mobile users, enabling our consumers to surf the Internet on their mobile devices.”
